Forest farming of herbs

Dr. John Munsell of Mountain Rose Herbs

Three benefits to this:

1. It’s a way to “add value” to forest land to keep it from being clear cut

2. It builds local communities in depressed areas

3. Higher quality

Historical note:

Forest farming is probably how the Mayans, Amazonians and other Native people grew medicinal herbs.

How do we know?

We constantly find medicinal plants in denser concentrations than normal, deep in the jungle.

How did they get there?

It’s very possible that these communities are descendants of herbs cultivated in the forest.
